Information and Communication Technologies Committee
Chairman: Dr Gerd Wolfram
Adviser: Mr Jürgen Noack
Assistant: Ms Elen Guedes
In recent years, huge strides have been made in information and communication technologies (ICT), bringing innovative products and new ways of shopping to consumers and increasing possibilities for procurement, storage, delivery and marketing for retailers.
The commerce sector is keen to capitalise on these opportunities. Yet, the challenge remains of reconciling consumer expectations with returns on investment while ensuring the potential of new technologies and processes is fully explored.
EuroCommerce is clear that legislation must not lead to excessive or unnecessary rules which may hinder the development or implementation of new technologies. In our view it is through self-regulation and the sharing of best practice that the greatest benefits can be achieved for businesses and consumers.
